Chandelier earrings get their name from the long dangling chandelier lamps which light up the atmosphere around it at one flash.

Chandelier earrings never go out of style so don’t be surprised if your mum, you and the little girl next door are wearing the same sort of earrings. Chandelier earrings are one of those fashion classics that every woman believes is a must have in her jewellery collection.

Chandelier earrings are definitely a style classic. However, just because these gorgeous pieces don’t ever go out of style doesn’t mean you just wear it any way you feel like. Even jewellery has its rules and here are some basic tips to make the most of those sparkling dangling beauties on your ears.

1. Choose Your Look

There are several kind of chandelier earrings so pick a pair depending on the look you’re trying to achieve, and the purpose or occasion you’re wearing it for. Junk jewellery made of cheaper metal is usually better for casual occasions and looks. They look especially fabulous if you’re going for the always in fashion Bohemian gypsy look.

On the other hand, earrings made of gold, silver or any precious metal or even adorned with stones are better suited to a more formal occasion.

2. Professional Touch

Chandelier earrings and professional don’t quite gel together in my book. There are very few pairs of chandelier earrings I’ve seen that would be suited for a professional environment, so in my opinion, it’s best not to wear them to work.

3. Lengths and Shapes

With chandelier earrings, the longer the better. Long is definitely beautiful but these earrings should definitely never ever be longer than your neck or you could end up looking like you’re being dragged down by the weight of your earrings! Also, if you have a broad, round face, wear slimmer chandeliers and avoid ones with a broader base because they only seem to make your face look broader and rounder.

If you have a thin face, balance it out with broader earrings in exactly the opposite way. And remember, if you have very short hair, don’t wear earrings that fall too far below your jaw line otherwise it just seems disproportionate.

4. Other Jewellery

As chandelier earrings in themselves create a pretty dressed up look, I would suggest not wearing any other jewellery with them. You could wear a matching bracelet or a ring at the most. However, definitely avoid a neckpiece at all costs otherwise you look a little too much like a Christmas tree. Wearing an OTT necklace with flashy earrings will be an overdose of bling. Let’s just focus the attention on the beautiful earrings instead.

5. Mix and Match

Instead of wearing matching jewellery, match your other accessories with your dressy earrings. So if you’re wearing earring studded with diamantes, you could match them with diamante-studded bag, and a pair of shiny shoes or one with a centre-piece that has diamantes for a perfectly coordinated look.

Most importantly, never forget to shop for a pair of chandelier earrings. Every girl should own one pair, if not many pairs.
