Dramatically High Updo

This towering, high, dark updo is a monumental piece of hairdressing. The hair is a deep, lustrous dark brown with a rich, glossy surface that catches the light beautifully. It has been coiled, wound, and arranged into a dramatically high updo that rises far above the crown of the head in a series of broad, smooth rolls and coils.
The lower sections form a base of smooth, horizontal rolls around the sides and back of the head, while the upper sections build upward in broader, more loosely arranged coils that create the extraordinary height of the final silhouette.

Two accessories have been used to complete the hairstyle. A pearl headband encircles the upper portion of the arrangement, adding a fine horizontal band that emphasizes the height of the tower and gives it a sense of completion. Lower down, toward the side, a crescent-shaped ornament has been placed. These two pieces work beautifully together, providing just enough decoration to acknowledge the formality of the occasion without overwhelming the drama of the hair itself.
Pearl drop earrings complement the accessories, and the high lace collar of the cream blouse creates a beautiful base from which the entire hair arrangement rises. The combination of white lace, pearl jewelry, and the hair ornaments against the deep brown of the hair is extraordinarily elegant.
The side profile view reveals the full drama of the silhouette: you can see exactly how high the hairstyle reaches and how it rises from the nape of the neck. This woman could walk into any drawing room in Europe in 1914 and turn every head in the room. Her hair alone would guarantee it.
