Being petite does not mean that you cannot look fashionable. You can not only look fashionable, but at the same time look taller as
well. All you need is to know how to create the illusion of being taller through your clothes.
Here are some tricks to make you look taller, slimmer, and beautiful.
1. Create a Slim Line Silhouette with Color
Wear two colors to create a taller and slimmer look. Match the color of your lower with that of the color of your jacket or a
sweater, and wear a blouse underneath in a different color. You can also dress up in one color from top to bottom, but remember
to wear darker colors like black, navy, charcoal, deep purple, or burgundy, to give a slimmer and taller effect.
2. Wear Well Fitting Clothes
Always wear clothes that fit you the best. Loose fitting apparel will make you look shorter and wider. Go for fitted suits and
dresses and choose fabrics that will give you more body and shape.
3. Select Vertical Lines for Taller Illusion
Always try to select clothes with vertical lines which create an illusion of being tall. For example, you can try pinstripe suits,
or jeans with a vertical line in the seams. But be careful not to wear clothing having multiple striped pattern otherwise you will
end up looking like a zebra. Also avoid pairing two garments having vertical linear patterns. Remember that just one or two lines
would be enough to create a taller illusion.
4. Select Necklines that Gives a Vertical Illusion
V-shaped and U-shaped necklines are the best-suited to give a vertical illusion. Choose these necklines to add height. Go for tops
or blouses with vertical lines extending from the neckline. But remember to avoid too many stripes.
5. Steer Clear of Bulky Garments
Avoid bulky oversized clothes as they give the illusion of width and will make you look wide and squat. Go for clothes that are
a close fit and brings out your shape. Avoid bulky jackets and sweaters and choose thin ones instead.
6. Select the Right Skirt
It is very important to wear the right kind of skirt to look taller. Avoid mini skirts. Minis look good on women who have longer
legs. But on petite women, the hemline of the mini falls on the thickest part of the thigh, making them looking shorter and
squatter. Go for skirts which fall slightly above the knee. If you want to wear long skirts, select an A-line ankle-level skirt.
Avoid baggy long skirts and skirts which cuts below the knee or at mid-calf as these will make you look shorter.
