Surf Spray

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray

Q: Can you tell me if using Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray in my hair will dry it out without going in the sun? It is clearly just salt water and product, but I like it as it stops me from having to straighten my hair, obviously causing more damage.

It feels dry but is it bad for my hair? At last I have found a product that makes me want to keep my curls and not straighten it.

A: Well, the Surf Spray is formulated with Magnesium Sulfate and certain alcohols so it can be a little rough on the hair unless you make sure you are compensating for it. However, if you are following a reasonable regimen of shampooing with a good conditioner then you are probably in no danger of damaging your hair.

This can change if your hair is chemically treated or lightened/colored. Such processes can leave the hair more porous and susceptible to damage and using certain alkaline or alcohol-based products can really dry out the hair.

However, you can best gauge how the product is affecting your hair. If you feel the hair is getting too dry, or rough after using it, try using less, or add a good (or a different) conditioner to your hair care routine.
