Spot Perm

Q: What is a spot perm? How do you wrap it? What products do you use - normal perming lotion?

A: As I see it, you have a couple of options. One is to gradually go lighter with your hair color until you reach a level that you can allow the gray to come in and be as unobtrusive as possible. Of course, this only has to be a gradual change if you are uncomfortable with the idea of a sudden shift in your hair color.

A spot perm is simply a targeted perm where a specific section of the hair is permed as opposed to the whole head. It would also be called a “partial perm”. These are most often performed to add volume to a specific area of the head. Apart from the specific focus on one section of the head, the perm process is exactly the same as traditional perms. The hair is wrapped according to the type of curl or wave you want, and/or what will best suit the rest of the hair.
