Here's a beautiful photo of Hilary Rhoda at the 2014 Fragrance Awards in New York City on the 16th of June, 2014. Her medium length of light brown hair is layered at the tips, to create that beautifully textured effect. It almost looks as if she had her hair in some kind of more formal up-style, swept away from her face, and then loosened it and combed her fingers through.

The easiest way to copy this look is to work with hair that's been washed a day ago, so that it has slight kinks and waves in it. Section off the hair and secure it with clips, while working from the back to the front. Select only a piece of hair here and there in every section. Spray that piece of hair with heat protector, and straighten it with your straightening iron. Take care not to straighten too much of the hair, because then you'll lose that slightly messy look. It's important that the hair has slight waves and kinks in it.

When you're done, spray your hair with a light hold hairspray, and throw your head back and forth four or five times. Comb your finger-tips through your hair to smooth it down, but not too much. You want it to look a bit messy and slightly wild.
