Moon Position & Hair Horoscopes
While horoscopes and astrology are popular for explaining different facets of personality
and the future, these guides can also be used to help guide your hair care and styling choices. Factors such as your astrological sign and the position of the moon can help determine which style would work best for you and the best time for you to get a haircut. First Quarter Moon The first quarter moon occurs when the moon begins to move away from the sun and lasts for about a week. Because hair growth slows during this time, it is a good opportunity to refresh your look with a slight trim without loosing any of your hair's length. Full Moon A full moon occurs when the moon is exactly opposite of the sun. During this time, hair grows at an average rate, making it a great opportunity to get a haircut that will stay fresh for some time. Hair will grow at an even pace that will keep your new cut looking crisp and bright. Third Quarter Moon As the moon begins to move back towards the sun, hair growth slows dramatically. This time is a good chance to cut your hair short or to trim your short hair. Because hair growth is so slow, women with short hair won't have to make frequent trips to the salon to refresh their cut. New Moon A new moon is when the sun and moon are in the same position in the sky. The new moon occurs approximately every 28 days, and hair grows rapidly during this time. This is a good opportunity to allow your hair to grow if you are trying to grow it out, or a chance for you to try out a new cut without having to make a long term commitment to a new style. Follow the Signs In addition to observing the position of the moon, knowing your sun sign will help you choose the hairstyle best suited to your personality and lifestyle. Capricorns (Dec 22- Jan 20) tend to have classic tastes, avoid trends and fads, and prefer trusted hair care products. Aquarians (Jan 21-Feb 19) are highly individualistic and like to follow their own trends. Those born under the Pisces (Feb 20-March 19) sign tend to be very artistic and prone to changing hairstyles often. Another sign known for bold and daring styles is Aries (March 20-April 19), who are often the first to try the latest and edgiest trends. If your sign is that of Taurus (April 20- May 19), you will most enjoy classic, understated looks rather than following trends. You will be more satisfied if you stick with the haircut that looks best on you. Unlike Taurus, Gemini's (May 22-June 21) are known for frequently changing hairstyles, often making dramatic styling changes every day. Another sign known for liking classic hairstyles is Cancer (June 22-July 23). Cancer signs are ruled by emotions, dislike change, and tend to prefer traditional hairstyles. Contrary to Cancer's aversion to daring hairstyles, Leo's (July 24-Aug 23) prefer bold and dramatic hairstyles that complement their intrepid personalities. If you are a Virgo (Aug 24-Sept 23), you tend to be a bit of a perfectionist and prefer natural or organic products. Libra's (Sept 24-Oct 23) desire balance and want their hair to be in harmony with the rest of their look. Scorpio's (Oct 24-Nov 22) are dramatic and confident enough to wear very eccentric hairstyles. If you are a Sagittarius (Nov 23- Dec 21), you tend to prefer simplicity in both their hair and styling products.
