The primary reason for ANY hairstyle choice should always be what is most flattering to the individual in question. You then tailor those options according to the client’s other
needs (something that will be lower in cost to maintain, or that will be faster and easier to recreate at home). You never want to be left feeling that your hairstyle was selected for you in order to accommodate your
stylist’s scheduling plans.
Now, I will close this by saying that the stylist that is likely to make a judgment to give her client shorter hair just for the sake of increased business revenue is rare. But they
are out there. That’s why it’s important to have a good rapport with your stylist. As a hairdresser, we are often called upon to tell some hard truths and with that responsibility is a tremendous amount of trust. You,
as a client, trust us to make you look good, and in that same sense give us the power to make you feel good about yourselves. It’s important that we always keep that sacred.
