Winter 2006/2007 Hairstyle Trends

And another holiday season approaches, bringing with it cooler weather and tons of parties and events that give us a lot of opportunities to show our stuff. That being said, let’s take a look at what is likely to be the trend in hairstyles as we move on into the holiday season.

Summer and fall of this year brought us a trend toward lighter hair color and softer, slightly shorter styles. The addition of the Winter Season is going to be equally subtle, but just as flattering. The keyword for winter is “waves”, as in large, soft curls, which add extra pizzazz to the holiday styles.

Kate Winslet Katie Couric        Hair lengths are going to get longer in order to allow for these soft, voluminous styles. The whole look of the season is going to be soft and romantic, and even up-styles will reflect this sentiment. Whether naturally curly, scrunched up, or rolled to perfections, the addition of curl and volume will be key to creating softly-swept up-styles and cascades of curls.        Colors will still play an important role in styles through the Holiday Season, with hair colors shifting slightly more subdued and a touch warmer. May women are opting for a darker sultrier look in hair color, or more subtle differentiation in the hair’s highlights and lowlights.

The result is smoky elegance, and a terrific opportunity to make a change from the summer’s lightening services. Don’t be afraid to make a change for the season. Just keep the color choices simple and within the family of your skin tone. The summer’s multi-tonal colors are out and simple shades and low-lighting are just perfect for all your holiday events. Take the shade a little darker, a little warmer and you’ll find your look can be just a touch more elegant.

So, fear not as you face the Holiday Season. The standards of style still apply, just with a little seasonal tweaking. Even if your hair is short, you can add some curl and volume, and maybe a subtle touch of color and you can feel sure you’re hair is going to be perfect.
