Red Carpet Hair Report: The 69th Annual Golden Globes
Always trying to keep you informed of the trends in hair, we take a look at the Hollywood Stars as they made their appearance on the Red Carpet for the Golden Globes on Sunday,
January 15th, 2012. The Golden Globes (awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association) kicks off the Awards-Show season and are generally considered a good predictor for the results to be seen in the up-coming Academy
Awards later in the Spring.
However, our focus right now is on the looks that really shook us on this particular evening, with special attention paid to the trends in hairstyles that we are likely to see
continue. And this year brings a couple of interesting trends that were something of a surprise.
The two biggest trends in hairstyles for the evening are best described as “simplicity” and “softness”. With a few notable exceptions, the hairstyles among Hollywood’s film and
television starlets were either soft, flowing tresses or simply-done upstyles (chignons and knots). Let’s take a peek at some of the highlights in hair for the evening to illustrate this trend.
Simple Up-Dos: Claire Danes, Lea Michele and Angelina Jolie
Soft and Flowing: Nicole Kidman, Salma Hayek and Sofia Vergara
Notable Exceptions: Rooney Mara, Morena Baccarin and Tilda Swinton
Of course, there are always notable exceptions to the trends seen on any red carpet, and here are a few of the more notable looks that bucked the current trend.
