Kate Mara was looking super sexy in a black mini dress at the 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards on August 25th, 2014. Her strands were shaped into a soft and airy bob hairstyle.

The hair doesn't have any layers cut into it but the ends have been cut with a razor to create that soft, tousled finish. Mara parts her hair right down the middle to keep it modern and edgy - a chic contrast to the softness of the rest of the style.

The texture is kept wavy and natural with minimal styling aids or products. The lack of hot tools and sprays keeps the look touchable and sleek. If she used any styling tools at all she probably used a large curling iron to create a subtle wave and then brushed it out.

Her hair color is showing off the still ever popular ombre hairstyle which is usually a fading of dark to light shades throughout the hair. Kate opts for a very dramatic contrast with the color as her roots are a very dark brown and they quickly melt into a dark golden blonde. The dark brown color is full of warm tones and therefore offers a very rich result.

Color can make a world of difference in any hairstyle and this is a great example of how a short bob is taken to the next level with an interesting color technique. This color is extremely low maintenance as an added bonus.
