Wedding Hair - Website Review

Every week I spend numerous hours relaxing on my couch watching T.V. and doing my job. It's a great job involving checking out hair-based websites and reading articles about hair. When I came across a website written by a fellow Gretchen, I knew that I needed to check it out. And, what a pleasant surprise it was. If only I had found her site 8 years ago, before I was married! So what is so great about her site ... every- thing. The title says it all; weddinghair.com.

bridal hairstyle I spent some time checking it out and decided that I would pass all of the good news on to all of you. This site is very easy to read and navigate. There are not a million different pathways to the point that you can't find your way back to the beginning. Believe me, I have gotten lost in my fair share of sites before, but not this one. I really love the large number of hair style options; whether short, medium, long or long and curly. There were many different styles for each of the hair types with two views for each style. Wait, there's more.

How many times have you seen an elaborate style in a magazine and didn't know where to even start to duplicate that style? That is where weddinghair.com steps up to bat by providing kits to purchase for $14.95 with free shipping. Included in the kit is step-by-step pictoral directions on how to recreate the style chosen. Ornaments as shown in the pictures on the website and the bobby pins needed to secure the hair are not included but can also be purchased from the samewebsite.

wedding hairstyle With one click on the "Ornaments" button you will be whisked away to a plethora of hair decorations. With categories such as flowers, mini-tiaras, claws, hair pins, miscellaneous, and ribbons. These ornaments are not your typical that you find in the corner market or even your typical salon. Flowers are available in various different sizes, fabrics and colors. Many of the other items come with Czech crystals, vintage beads and some even have real shells. There is truly an ornament for every wedding style.

There is another web site Gretchen’s created called partyhair.com which is currently inactive and will be incorporated into the weddinghair.com website this fall. This site, from what I understand, will be geared more towards prom type styles, pre-teen looks and flowergirl designs with the same opportunity to purchase kits. As a mom of three girls, one of which has quite long hair, I am very much looking forward to this addition. We could all use some fresh ideas when it comes to vamping up our dos.

Also, if you are a stylist you get some other perks. Kits can be purchased at a reduced rate. What a great way to boost your wedding style repertoire. There is also an opportunity to have your services listed on weddinghair.com for free in the stylist database. As of the beginning of April there were approximately 67 stylists listed, mostly by state with addresses, phone numbers, and websites. This is a great chance for some free advertising for your salon. And it doesn't hurt to be associated with one of the leading voices in wedding hair and makeup styles.

If you still haven't gotten enough of Gretchen Maurer and her wedding wisdom, there is a book that you can buy. It is called, "The Business of Bridal Beauty". It is available through weddinghair.com as well as amazon.com for about $35.00. With chapters ranging from "Your Bridal Image" to "Going the Extra Mile" and everything in between and from what I can tell it is a book jammed full of insightful and helpful information that lives up to its 5 star rating on amazon.com. There is even a chance to get a sneak peak inside of the first several pages of the actual book online - what a treat. All in all, I was very impressed with all that Gretchen Maurer and her site had to offer. She has obviously done her research and has developed her own bridal image. Plus, with all of the extras her website entails she has definitely gone the extra mile. Keep your eyes open for an interview that I conducted with Gretchen Maurer on this site next week.
